Weather for Gardening winter snow

When waking up on a Monday morning, I always check the weather, usually through the Met Office, and this week, ( week beginning 18th November) it has been spot on!

I have earned a fraction of our usual this week, way below my weekly average, even for this time of the year! Don't get me wrong, living on the edge of Dartmoor, we expect rain, and our business plan works around this a little. But with the summer also being difficult weather-wise, I have been forced to make some decisions for the beginning of next year - Weather for Gardening

We are always thinking of ways to diversify our business, having a combined experience in the horticulture industry of 22 years, I'm sure we could think of something, right?

So far we have grown 2000 beech whips from seed (slugs and birds age 50% of them), and made a small profit, we have tried selling logs and kindling, a very over-saturated market! We are now thinking about growing plants to sell on our doorstep, vegetable and flower plants, freshly cut flowers and any cuttings and divisions of plants from our garden.

Our newest idea is to retrain in garden design, something we can do from home, but how many design projects can we find in rural Devon?

Any idea we have come up with, takes a lot of time, effort and some cost. So, is a garden side hustle worth it?
